Default Am I losing power or is it my imagination.

This may sound silly but my car doesn't physically feel like its lost any power, it's still seems to kick and zoom like it always has but recently I've noticed some cars normal run of the mill type cars, nissans etc actually catching up on me where as in the past it would zoom way ahead.. I know there is a lot of specifics involved but I feel like twice in the past week while pushing it 2 normal cars caught up with me whereas that never happened before.. if I pushed a little more it used to zoom way ahead..

unless these cars where hiding some magic under the hood but I highly doubt it..

am am I just crazy and paranoid? I know I don need to get a new aux pump soon, im still trying to convince my indie to do the upgrade Bosch conversion big will posted.. 😂.

Could it be my supercharger is not working? I just went out again and met some friendly guys in an m3 we hit some side streets, they killed me.. It was a stock 3 day old m3, ive killed tuned m3 and m6s not long ago, and no i have nissans coming up on me something is wrong.. the intitial take off seems ok, but theres a loss of power somewhere?

Just read some stuff about the IC pump, if its bad then that kills alot of power, im not getting the reduced power message at all though.

I see that if the pump is not working it will cause the superccharger to shut down, should getting the new pump make the supercharger work again if this is the issue, or could the supercharger be damaged?

WOW, i was just driving my XFR thinking the same thing. maybe we've just grown accustomed to it? because i dont ALWAYS feel like this. when i put my foot down, it picks up and goes.

i can kind of hear the supercharger whine, so i think its working. no codes being thrown

No I'm prettty certain now that because of the pump my supercharger is being shut down.. theres no way the regular normal everyday cars where picking up the same speed ..

Well guys, you could download a vehicle performance app and make some timed runs, seat of the pants is very subjective, but the stopwatch won't lie.

A bone stock 2017 M3 should be faster than a bone stock 2010 XFR. If you have a tune, then probably a closer to even match.

If the intercooler pump has failed (like gone open circuit) then a code will be stored.

You should also check other basic things like blocked air filters, choked catalysts, dirty MAF sensors, etc...

But i'd be plugging in and reading codes first.

Im not so sure, ive killed brand new m4s and m6s with my XFR along with suped up mustangs and camaros.. it was a stock camaro the first car i noticed being able to catch on, then an altima, then some old *** bmw.. its really strange... The best way i can describe it at this time is..

Up to 70-100mph feels normal enough but the quick zoom when pressing the gas when cruising at those speeds has gone.. It would quickly push when putting the foot down slightly now theres what i can only call a lag, i hear the rev go up but takes a little charge before pushing..

Does that make sense to anyone?

a 2017 M3 is going to be equal or slight edge to a tuned 5.0 supercharged xf...or xfr as well same output..... you might have something not quite right... im tuned with pulley and pull about everything that wants to go...its usually just the cars that think they are fast that usually wanna run... the WRX s regular BMWs and Audi's

CEL = check engine light.

my question was, will the ECU store error codes if there is no check engine light.

i bought an OBD scanner, so ill find out in a few minutes.

Yep, literally thousands of codes can be generated without causing a CEL, a good/proper code reader will show most of them, although to see all of them in detail you need the proper SDD equipment.
I use an iCarsoft i930, picks up almost everything, see here: iCarsoft -Professional Multi System Scanner For LandRover / Jaguar / OBDII -i930 | eBay

No, it's the actual intake valves. Deposits build up on them slowly as you put more miles on the car. So it's a slow effect of robbing power so you won't notice it since you drive the car every day.

You need to remove the intake manifold and clean them off. It's a very baked on tar-like substance, and I found it's best to use throttle body cleaner by letting it soak the valves and then scrub gently with a firm brush.

Not a fun job, but that's the downside of direct injection. You can google it to learn more.

I did it on my gray XF and it made a big difference in power.
