hello i bought my first jaguar xd 2011 5.0 n/a
yesterday my car showed coolant level low till i got home it showed engine overheating off course i stopped waited for a bit and then slowly got home it wasn’t far away but before i got home till 1.8 2k rmps you could hear slight rattling so is because the coolant level are very low all most emty or its more damage than just coolant leak
i forgot to mention that at some point my power steering disappeared and then it started working again

 

Check the coolant storage box for any small leaks and hose piples or replace it also check the water pump if its running properly.

 

Fill the coolant and go around the block, see how it sounds. Stop with engine running and have a look under the hood for leaks.

 

so it’s leaking somewhere behind the engine on the driver’s side the leak only leaks when you release the gas pedal but like when you press the gas it doesn’t leak and its like a big leak

 

Keep reading your 5.0 engine has an entire list of failure prone plastic cooling parts and I would plan on replacing all of it at one time. Otherwise you will be redoing the repair as the parts fail one by one.

DO NOT ignore this as the number one reason to destroy your engine is something breaking and then over heating the engine. Again and again DO NOT drive the car any further if it's leaking coolant or running hot.

Can you DIY the repairs? Otherwise plan on an expensive trip to the shop. Don't forget to include the water pump too as I am surprised that has not be replaced already?
