Hi Mark,

Thank you for looking into this and clearing things up. Bummer we don’t have a built in sub, it would have made installation easy.

Most amps for subwoofers have a pre-amp level input with a built in crossover. This allows you to tap into 2 full range signals (i.e. either Left Front / Right Front or Left Rear / Right Rear) and amplify just the lower frequencies and send that to your sub woofers. This is what I did in my previous car. Essentially everything stays in place with the OEM system and I tapped into the pre-amp level signals at the stock amplifier and connected up my own subwoofer and amp.

With that said can you confirm which wires are the right wires I should tap into (i.e. either Left Front / Right Front or Left Rear / Right Rear)?

Also, there should be another signal which tells the amp to turn on. This is separate from the power supply to the amp and only turns the OEM amp on when the stereo is turned on. Do you know which wire this is as well ?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Jim

I downloaded the 10 speaker wiring diagram from jag technical website (1 day access cost me £7.50), you could run the sub off the rear right woofer wires, they are labelled as:

BN-WH
BN-BU

Of course these are speaker level outputs, so would need amp capable of taking high-level input.

I had to get the connector for speaker level signals for my amp. Do you know if there was a signal to turn the amp on (not the power supply, but a low power signal that tells the amp to turn the power supply on)?

I heard it may be the gray/red on the green connector.

Thx.

Below are some pics from my install.

Pic 1: Used wire taps to splice into L & R woofer signals (makes for easy connection).

Pic 2: Routed Power cables

Pic 3: Finished install of sub and amp

I ended up tapping into the fuse box in the trunk for the signal to switch the amp power on and off.

Thanks to BlackX300VDP and DMan for their help!

I have a 2009 Jaguar XF with the standard 320W sounds system. I am getting no sound out of the driver side front door speaker (it appears to be blown out completely). The tweeter on driver side front still works. The passenger side front door distorts at high volume as well. My question is has anyone upgraded the speakers on a Jaguar XF? Any recommendations? Does the XF requires component speakers?

I have heard the amp is non-upgradeable?

Im am not sure where that is the wiring from.
Maybe a scan from the original diagram would help?

I don't think 2012 changed. Wire colors are (at the sub)

The wires at the amplifier are the same colors but the connector is the grey connector. Looks like second from left looking at the connector side of the amp.
Good luck
What do the pins represent? I assume one is +, one is - (for the sub itself), one is amp switch on, and one is ground?

I am trying to get a sub in my trunk and want to do it as cleanly as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

im thinking of upgrading my speakers to, no problems with them though its an 09 luxury with the bower wilkins system. what yall think of some rockford fosgate component speakers and a 2 channel amp for the speakers. probably cant change out the stock screen to a double din huh, not that i want to but if it is a possibility?

Hi I've just bought a XF Business and been a bit disappointed with the audio quality.
The spec says a 400W 10 speaker but it sounds more like 40W, The back door speakers are very quiet.

I've seen a Subwoofer on Ebay for the space saver, But if I buy it.
Can I connect it instead of the back door speakers? Is there enough power ?
Also if the Sub goes into the space saver well. How does the sound get into the car ? Wouldn't the wooden carpeted lid on-top of it, stop the sound ?

This is a great forum when I have to reply to my own posts.
Further research I have found that the XF business 2012MY audio system is the 250W basic jaguar and the power to the back door speakers is alot less than the front.
Also I found the bleeps for the reversing sensors are feed into the rear door speakers. So I cant disconnect them.
The only answer is a high level subwoofer Amp.

jjsaustin: Can you provide a bit more detail on what you did to get your amps working? Would I need an amp if my intention is to run just a standard small 6" woofer or a powered unit like a Blaupunkt?

I'm just looking to fill out the lows of this system a bit, and not really rattle the trunk.

I tapped off four wires from the high level outputs from the back speakers white/green brown/yellow and brown/white brown/blue into a high to low level converter with a remote signal output. Then used the 12v feed Black/red-white to power my amp and the remote signal to turn the amp on and off. I have a space saver subwoofer and the frequencies are so low you tend to feel the sound through the car.

That's definitely helpful info. Thank you, Scramp.

I found an OEM 2009 subwoofer that goes into the spare wheel well. I wonder if it's plug and play. Even if some modification is required, the fact that it's OEM is nice to know.

I received the OEM sub from a 2009. It was only $60 so I figured I'd gamble on it.

How do I install it? Is there really a connector in the trunk that allow me to plug and play? Can anyone confirm this for me? My car is with my fiance right now, so I can't take a look.

I have a Jaguar XF 2012 too do you think an upgrade of the amps ad subs is a good decision? Or will it just make the XF look cheap?

THe current stock subs are like useless theres barely anything in them, that why i would like to replace them.
But i dont want to lose the sleek look and feel of the XF for it.

I bought a used jaguar space saver subwoofer from ebay. It plugs straight into the existing wiring for the amp, Unfortunately the subwoofer option in the amp has not been enabled. Therefore I had to add a 2 x 80w amp which uses the rear speaker high level output. The Amp sits on top of the speaker and is remotely switch on and off from the rear audio signal.

Nothing special, I just used an 80W Alpine Amp with RCA low level inputs. But you can buy the amp with the high level and remote switch built in. I decided to buy a separate high to low level converter with remote from ebay which worked out cheaper.

Got it. Alright, I'm going to plug the OEM unit in and see if the car picks it up. Seems like it won't. So if it doesn't, I'll go and grab a small-ish 50, 60, or 80W amp and tap into the rear speakers.

I'll have a pro review this thread to get it all setup correctly.
