Anyone Have Sticky Interior Dashboard Buttons?

It's very common on the XJ. I've not heard it on the XF
Did you mean to post in the XJ forum?

People have managed to take off the sticky with goo gone, with a few other chemical cleaners, else button replacement is v expensive
It was a problem with the 'soft touch' buttons I think. As far as I know the newer models don't suffer from it

That's happening on my ECO mode button (because I turn eco mode off so damn much). What I found is that it's the top rubber coat. Underneath is just a hard plastic button. I looked at it closely and saw that you can peel all the sticky off of the whole button and then it will at least look normal, just won't have the soft rubbery feel. I haven't taken the time to do it but that's probably what I'll do.

No, the issue is on my 2012 XF Portfolio. I used an orange oil type cleaner, my fingernail and a small nylon brush to clean it up. It took a long time but turned out well.

All of the buttons on my 2012 XF have this rubber coat on them. At least it cleans up nice and the actual plastic is high quality and resists scratching.

a friend said you can disconnect the eco small battery in the trunk and disable the system. or so I have been told …...wink

Yeah I've read that one here. But I actually do use it. What I do is turn it off then turn on it on when I get surprise caught at that 2 minute light. I I really do think it's stupid to sit there and idle for 2 minutes when you know it's going to be that long.

Hadn't realized this was occurring on the XF. Certainly lots on the XJ board about it. Must be on the facelifted 2012 and later models - on my 2010 XF the buttons are all silver and 'hard' so don't appear to suffer the sticky issue

I have done the steering wheel control area and the center dash buttons. The others have not deteriorated as much but are just starting to get sticky and hazy.
