Default Boot lid catch

The sensor on the boot lid of my XF 2008 , makes a "whirring " sound when I try to open it . The only way I can open it is manually with the key . Do I need to change the switch in the lid or is it a more complex issue ? Thank you Andy

I think the electric unlocking mechanism inside the trunk lid is broken.
