Brake pad recommendations / ones to avoid
Hi, I have a 2014 XF 2.2D (200bhp) and the front brake pads are due for replacement. I can get Bosch and TRW replacements for about £37. There are other cheaper brands available, but I don’t want to scrimp then regret it. Has anyone used Bosch or TRW and how do they compare to the Jaguar OE ones? I’m open to any suggestions, but don’t want to pay £100+ for the OE ones. Car is used as a daily driver, so no real need for mad performance braking either.

I put a set of Akebono on my rears and the car stops like a dime... I have used them on my saabs ( they are/were oe) ( $60 I think)
I also put them on my wife's Honda pilot fronts and never stopped like this ever before. love them, and not that much more
I had Bosch on her SUV before and they sucked.... noisy and no feel...

People generally pay more for an upgrade and in the case of brake pads, this would be moving to ceramic. The regular pads tend to be grabby and squeal when pulling to a stop, Then exhibiting a grunch noise and vibration when creeping forward. Not to mention the excessive brake dust. You can be used to all that but the ceramic pads do away with most of it, like a night and day difference. Few brands to choose from such as EBC or Akebono but my car has the big factory brakes so Power Stop had me covered. Smooth now. Search this forum for 'ceramic' and there is plenty of discussion.
