Default Brembo pad retaining clip broke, is this safe?

I recently bought an XFR-S, and I’m really excited about it. I needed to replace the brake pads after getting a warning on the dashboard, so I installed a set of Brembos today.

During installation, I accidentally broke one of the fasteners on the back of the brake pad that sits in the piston. For what it’s worth, these Brembos were super hard to seat in the pistons. I believe they’re called brake pad retaining clips. I only broke 1 of the 3 ears of the clip, and I circled the one I broke in the picture.

Is it still safe to use this pad, or should I replace it?

I'm brand new to working on cars, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It could get stuck in one position and ruin your rotors, bite the bullet and get the pad

Thanks for the advice! I was able to remove the small, broken piece of metal, so I don’t think there’s anything left that could damage the rotors. Do you see any other risks?

I doubt that anyone will be brave enough to give you advice here other than the above, regardless of what they might do themselves in the same situation.

It's on your brakes and it's broken.
Replace the pad!
