Default New Front Brake Pads Today....

2006 XK8 with 122,800 miles....

Installed a new set of Wagner ThermoQuiet front brake pads today. They replaced the same ThermoQuiet pads I installed in early 2014. I had forgotten how much of a hassle the old inboard pads are to remove because they clip inside the piston. The caliper assembly did not want to release and lift out after I removed the two slide pins because the inboard pad remains clipped to the piston where it continues to grab the rotor. Using a couple of large screwdrivers along with plenty of brake parts cleaner spray to finally wedge the caliper free did the job, along with a profuse string of appropriate cusswords....

No idea why Jaguar designed these inboard pads to clip to the inside of the piston. Sure creates a lot of work and frustration at pad replacement time....

Properly-designed and installed pads do not rattle. No need for these stupid clips....
