Can you pull the Wipers Up and Out for Winter Time?
During winter time snow, you will see many cars when parked pull their wipers up sticking out so that they do not freeze on the windshield. On my XF I tried but it does not go. The more force I use it seems like it will break. On some other cars I believe AUDI or LEXUS, they have to push the windshield wiper away from the glass (towards the hood of the car along the glass) to active the section in the mechanism that allows it to be pulled outward. I tried that too and too much force seems it will break.
Can you please just confirm to me that they are not designed to be pulled out like other cars? I suppose this is due to the heated windshield. It is such a simple design that JLR could have implemented and should have because as cars get old and lets say you replace the windshield with non-heated...then you are screwed for winter. Good thing I chose a heated windshield for my replacement as I did not think of this at the time.

There is a service position for the wipers to enable change of insert etc, I don't know whether they will prop up like you want when in the service position but worth a try. I think if you hold the wiper switch in the single wipe position whilst switching the engine off, it parks n the service position.
Unfortunately I think you have to keep the ignition on for the service position. At least on mine when you then turn off the ignition it goes back to normal position. It's just for a quick change of the wiper blades
I've not found a way to keep mine up in the winter. Interested if anyone else does

As I said, I've not found a way to lift them off the screen to park overnight. If anyone works it out, I'd be interested to hear!

I keep two wine-bottle corks in the driver's door pocket. Any time I would want to prop up the wipers as you describe, I wedge the corks under the wiper arm near the base, how far from the base depending on how far from the glass I want the blades to be. It ain't pretty but it works

It's not a pretty solution, but...

On a serious note, I have not found a way to prop the blades so they will be away from the glass.
