Default car thinks its always night time

started up my car yesterday and the headlights stayed on the whole time (lights in "auto" position). thought, ok might just be a small glitch, no problem.

started the car today, same thing. the headlights just stay on. its clear and sunny these past 2 days.

where is the sensor located? maybe something blocking it? but the car is pretty clean.

I think the sensor is on the dashboard in front of the center speaker. Is that covered?

Ever since I upgraded my speaker setup I've had the same issue from time to time. Haven't found any good reason for it. The lights will only turn off when it's super bright outside.

intermittent connection to the sensor, or the sensor has been moved slightly out of place.
Ive seen it happen when people replace the speaker grill in the dashboard, a tug on a wire or a movement somewhere misaligns the sensor.

i havent done anything to the speakers or dashboard. probably just a really bad bump misaligned it. im gunna hit it with my hand a few times. the light issue is not as annoying because my car is canadian spec, the headlights are on all the time (mandatory day light running lights). my auto wipers dont work automatically. so I have to get that fixed

That's probably my issue, as I took it out quite a few times during my speaker upgrade. Good thing it's easy to get to.
