Default Damaged 2011 XF purchase

I am contemplating purchasing a used 2011 XF Premium with 19 000 km on it. Trouble is it was involved in an accident resulting in $10 600 worth of damage. The front passenger fender, wheel rim and shock were replaced. It has been professionally repaired and looks like brand new. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether this is a good purchase. The price has been discounted as a result of the accident. I don't know what other suspension components may have been damaged or if the unibody frame components may have been damaged. I am going to take it for a drive on the weekend. Any comments would be appreciated.

Does the damage show up on Carfax or similar? Does the discount make the car available to you, or can you afford a "full price" one? I think you will be hard pushed to detect any faults caused by the crash on a test drive in a car of a type with which you are generally unfamiliar. You need to know more about the accident - were airbags deployed? I kind of doubt it, given the repair bil and description of damage. Unless it is cheaper than a 2010, it probably isn't worth it. The main bonus of a 2011 is the platinum warranty (in the US anyway). It also depends how long you intend to keep it - it will be a harder car to sell...

Thanks Darlo. The damage does show up on Carfax, I guess that's why the dealer disclosed it to me. Price wise it's about $5000 more than a 2010. Your comment about re-selling if I don't keep it more than a year or two is very valid and something I considered. Can't really afford a brand new one. Think I should pass on this one and wait and see if I can find something down the road. Got the bug after taking a friend's 2009 XF for a drive, really liked the car, the styling, interior and performance. I currently have a 98 xjr which I've put a lot of money into parked for the winter in the garage.

Find and compare it to a 2009 XF Supercharged. Pricing could be lower, more options are standard, and you get a bit more power than you do from the 5.0L.
