Finally managed to do a drain and fill with Ford SP fluid I bought on Amazon. It was a lot cheaper than the ZF fluid. I was experiencing some weird shifting issues and the dealer wanted $1000 bucks to do the pan service. Before I went that route I wanted to see if changing some of the fluid out made a difference.
one of the issues I was experiencing was when coming to a stop I would get a harsh bump from 2nd to 1st gear. Next issue was going from 2nd to 3rd it would almost feel like the transmission was slipping.
After watching some videos on YouTube on refilling the transmission, I was ready to give this a shot.
Not bad for 12 qts Used this to raise the sides so I don’t damage the pinch rails All four wheels off the ground and car as level as possible Very tight space. Used stubby 8mm wrench purchased on Amazon. Fluid was very dirty. Used this fitting so it would hold itself in the fill hole Used this to pump the fluid in Worked very well
I didn’t do any adaptations with sdd since I don’t have it. I drove it normally for about 50 miles the. Parked it for a few hours. Then later at night took it back out. All my weird shifting issues have disappeared. The transmission is shifting very nicely and feels like it’s more crisp than before. I was a little worried about having too much or too little fluid inside but the transmission feels so much better than when I bought it. It currently has 73k miles.
