Didn't Think This Was Possible-XF 2013 3.0 MPG
Today I tried to see what kind of MPG I can expect with a super light foot. The challenge was to beat the EPA rating. All the reviews online claimed the car gets a MPG lower than the EPA rating.
Definition: Accelerated and shifted under 2k rpm. Driving on normal mode. Cruise (within reason) to a stop as much as you can when I saw a red light. Eco mode was self regulated(turned it off and on within reason)
City: 27.5 mpg
Avg speed: 29
Sweet spot: 36.5 mpg
Avg speed: 57 mph
Hwy: 30.5 mpg
Avg speed: 70mph
Temp: 80F
Terran: Flat
Amazing what they can do now with a 340hp engine!
Warning, to obtain the above mpg means you have to drive like you have a prius..super boring but cool findings!

Yeah, I've had a similar experience with my 3.0. It seems to me that "winter mode" (in good conditions) actually produces the best gas mileage for me. It really softens acceleration and provides very smooth shift points. That said, I like to drive aggressively, so it's pretty rare I'm thinking fuel economy.

I took a little trip yesterday and averaged 29.8mpg--that is just an amazing number. I'm visiting my sister in Memphis this September so I'm really curious how she'll do. But seeing as how the highway rating is 26mpg I'm really impressed.
I remember when I first took out an XF for a day to see what the car was like. I ended up with 9 mpg and a huge smile.

Haha I don't find that all surprising. It is a big car but I think it's pretty damn fun too.
Our 14' 3.0 SC AWD has been getting around 28-29 on the road. We just recently drove to the coast and back, 800 mile round trip, and it averaged 26. Now take in consideration that I was speeding, excessively. But it's a fun car and I can't help it.
