Don't buy an Audi

Ive just been test driving the new XF awd with the supercharged V6 ( the F Type engine).
Fantastic. Much more fun to drive than the Audi.
Software is tuned for rwd feel and it delivers, even in winter mode while sending 30% or more torque to the front wheels. In normal mode in 6 inches of wet and slippery snow this cat is an absolute blast.
And my existing TSW Mugello 8x18' ET 40 alloys with Pirelli Sottozeros will fit the Portfolio car I have just ordered.

The reviews on the Jaguar's new AWD have been oustanding. Just the way the power is split and making it seem like a rear wheel drive car.
My view on the Audi's is slightly different from the ones above. I have never liked them and always found Audis to be mundane. Don't know why, but i just don't find them appealing.

In AZ I run summer tires year round and don't need AWD. If I could get the S7 in RWD I would. The two reasons I like the S7, 7 passenger seating via 2 foldable jump seats in the hatch area and 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. I also like the Tesla S for the 7 passenger seating and 0-60 in 4.1. I have 27,000 miles and 3 years of warranty left to decide whats next but if I stuffed it today it would be one of these two.

I have a 2012 Q7 TDI. No issues. Drives like a typical heavy German vehicle. I've had it for a year and no issues. Audi service ratings are relatively high for a luxury brand...higher than Jaguar. I looked at the A7 and A6 when I purchased my XF. I didn't like the look of the A7 (the back of the car doesn't appeal to me) and the A6 seemed too small. Overall, I've been pleased with my Audi. I have heard from others to get rid of it at the end of the warranty but that is similar to most luxury cars/brands out of warranty...pricey maintenance.

Agree with you on the A/S6 seems smaller then the XF similar to the E series in size.
I love the A/S7 shape I think it is the best looking sedan on the market right now. I hear an RS7 is due out soon. Audi seems to hold its value much better then Jaguar. Might be difficult for me to find my 1 year old with under 20k miles for 50k like I need to do.
I really like the sounds the XFSC makes when driven in anger. The noise the pops and cackles from the exhaust I don't think another car could sound as awsome as my XF. Its a dinosaur they don't make em like this anymore :-(

Weird, but not surprising.
Xtra Fast - We have the same cars on our short list but for me the A/S7 is probably more realistic than the Model S if only due to availability. The V6 in the A7 is impressive and it puts up performance numbers (with the help of awd) similar to my XFSC without the penalty at the pump. Only thing I don't like about the A7 is the rear styling.
I've driven the A7 and it rides nicely. The interior is typical Audi. Jag continues to play catch-up when it comes to infotainment. I just wish they weren't holding their value so well.
Lastly, how many of us drive hard enough to induce understeer (or oversteer for that matter) on even a semi-regular basis? I've read a lot of reviews/test drives/comparos and the consensus is that Audi's historical understeering tendencies have been reduced to "mild."

In winter I "induce" oversteer and understeer routinely. On bare roads I never try to induce oversteer, it's the slow way to drive. You should try to minimize understeer also as sliding tires at either end of the car are a bad idea on the road.
I realize sliding tires aren't necessary for understeer or oversteer but that's what people think of when those words are used. Technically, a car must understeer initially in order to turn at all.

The XJSC is not any faster then the XFSC and not much bigger. I'm looking to pick up 2 jump seats in the trunk and a half second to 60. There are only two cars I know of that can do it with out being a E63 wagon which at 100k I would just buy a low miles 2005/2006 Ferrari F430 or Lamborghini Gallardo and never take my kids anywhere again for the same dough.
Sideways Jag is pretty easy and fun DCS OFF make a turn with just a hair too much throttle enjoy.
The Tesla is going to be cheaper than the S7 when it comes time for a replacement I would wager. It has a cool factor the Audi doesn't being electric and all. Why do Audi's hold value so well?

I like the Audi 5 and 7 sedans and oddly the Q5. Others seem bland. Interiors are living on their past reputation. That and lack of maintenance coverage allows them to be price competitive. Also the TT has some looks. I want to test drive the v6 xf to see what the powers like. I don't know if I can givevup the rush of the v8 SC. I have a four years to go.
