Default Engine Died while driving, p2105

Well my XF nightmare just keeps getting more fun.

Yesterday while sitting in traffic my XF just started idling odd went into Restricted, performance mode, I pulled over and it just died.

Sat for a few min, turned back on all is normal until 10 min later while getting of the freeway, engine running bad, won't go faster then 5mph, and while idling badly it dies.

a bunch of codes came up, I cleared them went driving this morning, and it happened within 10 min.

codes p2105 p061a and the maf and map sensors ones popped up.

I have had nothing but problems with this issue. No idea at this point when I took to dealer in NOV the said to clean the throttle body which I did. and have had the issue a few times, but not like this.

so far nobody has had an answer for me....

this is extremely frustrating.

Hi.

I had the exact same thing a couple of times last month.
It turned out that my battery was the original, 6 years old, and had lost a lot of charge. It started OK but the low charge made it suddenly run really rough and throw RP and lots of fault codes.
I fitted a new battery using a Ctek as a supply to the leads whilst doing so and didn't have any problems.
The BMS, battery monitoring system, doesn't need resetting as it re-calibrates itself after just a couple of drive cycles. That is confirmed in Topix by the way.

Check out your battery to be sure.

Good luck.

I had this a couple years ago and was a distance from home - but drove (crawled) home in restricted mode and dealer fixed it for......$1,000.

I'll get the invoice and let you know what it was

thats a pricey bill!!!

I replaced the battery, and tested for 20 min tonight, and it started normal and felt really good, I think a nice reset did it good.

I will try a full on drive tomorrow, that will fix all the monitors and start a normal drive cycle, then I will know if it fixed it. fingers crossed.

Yep, the fuel injectors on the AJ133 motor are very expensive, especially as you can't buy individual injectors and you have to buy them as a matched set for each bank.
And they are a PITA to get at and replace hence the labour cost.
That said, there are some reports that they can be "fixed" simply by adding a can/bottle (or two) of injector cleaner to the fuel.
Of course this is no help to MarkN, and he may have tried it anyway, but for other FMs it would be worth a try before spending $1,000s on new injectors.

Correct - they only come in complete sets for each bank!

I did NOT try adding cleaner but it was running SO bad I'd be shocked if that did the trick in my case. At times it wouldn't start.
