Default Engine light

Cant believe 1 month out of warranty 42,000 miles and I get a amber engine light, man depressing I read that some emissions are covered for 8 yrs or 80,000 miles I pray this problem is one of those, I have 2 grand kids due this month and my two boys who are in the army and air force wore me out with their dad/grand lists . :^)

If it is not under warranty, find a good independent Jag repair shop. This will save significant $ over the dealer.

I do not know where in MD you are, but English Auto in Odenton is very good and reasonable.

Also Advance Auto and Auto Zone will also read your fault codes for free. If you then post them on the forum you can get help to DIY.

Actually, that may just be the thermostat. It isn't unheard of for these to fail after five years.

Since Jaguar decided to take away the Temp gauge, ..it's difficult to say which way the coolant thermostat is stuck..hopefully it is stuck fully open...The code P028 is consistent with low operating temps after a period of engine run time..Last time I saw this code was in a car where the T-stat had stuck open and would not let the engine attain normal operating temps..in other words, it stayed too cool..and it threw the code....
