Default Engine Systems Fault / No Dash Info

Hey guys, it's me again with another problem
Have had the car for only 2 months (2013 Jaguar XF 3.0 S/C RWD), and I'm already getting fed up with these issues. Love the car, but it seems to offer a lot of problems.

Here it goes, please help out if you can.

First I got the "Engine Systems Fault" message while driving, when I parked, the engine wouldn't turn off.
Insisted a bit and I finally turned off.
Used a bluetooth ELM327, but no codes.
Tried to start it up again, but nothing.
Doors lock/unlock and windows open/close.
"Start Stop" button only pulsates sometimes, not always.
The only thing that shows up on the screen is the leaping jaguar symbol, nothing else.

Weird...!?!?!

I've swapped out the car battery and the remote battery, no change.

I bought the car with an 18 month warranty, but I'm under the impression they're not going to cover the costs, don't know yet.

Any idea of what it could be, please help.

Do you have 176K on the car?
That's a lot of miles.

I think you need to use SDD or you won't be able to see the codes on your car.

Yeah, a bit high, but it is kilometres so still not that bad for a 9 year old car.

For SDD, do I need a specific cable, or just ant USB/OBD cable and the software?

I've also seen suggestions on a hard reset of the ECU, because I swapped out the battery for a new one?

You can try the hard reset but it probable won't do anything.

We are trying to keep all the SDD stuff together since it's such a HUGE subject.
Post on this thread and also read it as there is a lot of info in there!
SDD Help

Here are some SDD disc images from the UK forum which is just about the easiest way to get it installed.

You shouldn't need an SDD to pull codes. Just a code reader. A jag compatible one will give you an extra level of detail

Have you checked for a ground fault / poor connection at the battery given the replacement?

But why diagnose yourself? Seems like some real issues. Have them fix it on warranty.

I agree, they should fix it, but you know how these guys are. Always trying to throw you a curve ball and not wanting to assume responsibility.
I going out tomorrow and getting a better scan tool.
I'll consider it an investment for future use.
I cleaned the contacts because the negative connection did have a bit of corrosion on it

All sorted out.
Thanks for all your advice.
The negative battery connection had some green sh*t on it. After cleaning that off, all good.
Starts up fine and no faults or codes.
Very sensitive contacts, these things.

Glad you fixed it. Modern cars v sensitive to battery power. So if you see random electrics gremlins start by checking battery voltage, grounding etc
Good result!!
