Error Code P2601
#1
Got error code P2601 last night after a number of hard runs. Car went into "Restricted Performance" mode 3 times over the course of 3 hours. Everything was fine each time after it reset. The language is a bit vague on the code so wondering if it means the engine got "hot" or if there is something hardware related than requires repair. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
P.S.
I reset the code with Torque but haven't pushed it since to see if it returns.

Kyanite, it isn't so much that your engine got hot, but your supercharger got hot. Doing a little bit of reading, it seems Land Rovers are suffering from a condition that the cooling pumps for the supercharger cooler is wired backwards from the factory which then causes the pump to push against the normal flow of coolant. So, at light throttles, there is enough flow through the supercharger cooler that things are within normal range. But, you start getting on the gas harder (ie, long, hard pulls like you were doing), the heat will build up and cause the temps there to exceed a limit. You can look up "LTB00041, Rev 2" for a bit more information. In your case, it can possibly be just that the auxilary coolant pump for the supercharger is getting weak and isn't flowing enough. Could be that the fuse blew for the pump and it simply is not aiding the coolant flow like it should.
Hope this helps in getting to the root of the problem.

Thanks Thermo! I read about that too. I also saw something about an XJ that has similar issues as well.
Thankfully I have an extended warranty without a deductible so I can just take it in for them to sort it out. But it does make me feel better knowing my pulley and tune weren't the cause of the issue and I can give them somewhere to start.

Got “restricted performance” and orange light on my 2006 XKR. This happened several times but only in the mountains while going fast up hill. It would clear after sitting for a while. Also twice got code P 2601. This is a problem with intercooler water pump. Found fuse #14 in engine management fuse box blown. Replaced fuse and it soon blew again. Found intercooler (supercharger) pump inoperative. Found used pump for $200 and installed it. Took about 2 hours. Now everything appears fine. No codes or lights. The shaft of the old pump was frozen, explaining the blown fuse. I hope this helps owners with a similar problem. I have seen several forum queries about P 2601.
