Default Finally some clarity on smart key problems 09-15 XF

My 2009 Jaguar XF has had issues with the vehicle not recognizing the key unless it is inserted into the key slot. After some research there are three low frequency antennas throughout the vehicle. One of those is underneath the front dash, one is underneath the center console and then another one is in the trunk by the keyless vehicle module. Has anybody changed these low frequency antennas? Do they have to be programmed to the car, I'm assuming they do not. I've already done all the testing, for the key fob. The batteries the connection. The fact that it reads it while it's inside of the key slot, the key slot actually reads the transponder to work the passive start system. The keys are omitting a frequency. But I don't think the antennas are, I will test those with an oscilloscope. It can also be the RF frequency in the trunk as well as a low frequency antenna. I do not believe the keyless vehicle module would allow the vehicle to start if there is a transponder wrong with either key. I have two keys and none of them work inside the vehicle. Which makes me think it has to be an antenna issue that's not picking up the frequency from the key.

It would likely be either a KVM or antenna issue. I would start by getting the fault codes read from the car and look at any codes in either BCM (CJB) or KVM (RFA). It's usually a KVM fault in my previous experiences with customers cars.

People who try to make sense of any ridiculous situation with these cars have too much faith in the people that designed and produced them.

For this case it's just trash firmware code in the modules with near no fault tolerance. The module panics and you are sol. Just reflash to reset it and move on.

All euro makes have these problems which would make this case egregious but understandable. No the real crime is Jag dealers that know that it can be fixed with a basic module reflash but instead force customers with a disabled car to buy thousands of dollars of hardware when it it not necessary.
