Default Fog Lights real ones!

I really miss the fog lamps my XJ350 had. They were HID Xenons and were very bright. The LED strips for the XF be it OE or After market are a joke.

I need some proper working fog lamps not just for cosmetic reasons. Anybody retrofit a set of Hellas or something.

The LED's on the XF are DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. They are not for nighttime brightness or cutting through fog. Driving lights are for brightness. DRL's are for daytime use. They serve their intention. Just like the Benzes and Audis. They actually dim down at night when parking and headlights come on because they are for daytime. Someone that is expecting them to be bright at night, even though that is not their purpose, would consider them non functional or a joke.

Fog lights don't cut through anything. The fog light is mounted low and has a very sharp cut off to reduce glare reflected back at the driver. They are only useful for low speeds in heavy fog or blinding snow.

If your previous car had very bright "fog" lights they were more likely to be driving lights which are opposite in characteristics. Driving lights send a strong projector beam directly in front of the car for night driving in good visibility at very high speeds. North American drivers don't need driving lights as it is too dangerous to drive that fast at night here.

Hah! Most of them can't even handle dimming the lights at the right time. And that's not including the ones running on DRL at night where the DRL is the unmodified high beam. Those would be the clowns with lights in front, and completely dark in back. Easy to spot.

My XJ 350 had them and so does my Toytoa Sequoia. THey are fantastic specially when driving lowly iluminated roads. They give out a semi circular arch of light that is great. I have seen Hella makes these mini fog that I might give a go.
