Default Gas pump cuts off

Any one else had this issue?Noticed when I was filling up my 2010 xf yesterday, the gas pump kept clicking off before the tank was full. Like the pump was sensing that I already had a full tank. This was just annoying to me. Any thing that could be wrong with the fuel door that may cause this???

no its useally cause by and overlly sensitive pump, the way youre holding the nozzle in the fill tube etc.. try another gas station/pump next time and see if it repeats and at least eliminate that as a cause, and if its a fault with the car did you have the key on? that keeps the car from opeing the cannister close valve and nowhere for the fuel vapor/pressure from filling to go. can also be from a stuck closed valve, but that will set a CEL and not common on a newer car since its a normally open valve.

We need to get everyone who has this issue to chime in here. I had my '11 XFR into the dealership for this very issue and they shrugged it off as something I need to change in my filling habits. I don't think that's going to fly.

Someone here said that their dealer had recognized this as an issue and had rectified it on their car. I'd love to know what the resolution is.

See "New XF - Strange Question" topic where there are a number of comments on this topic.

My car behaves in the same way as described by nickdentist. My dealer tells me that there is no standard "cure". I simply do not push the nozzle all the way in which mitigates the issue somewhat but does not eliminate it.

Read this thread. It may or may not be the same problem but worth looking into. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...uestion-65240/

I have had the same issue with both my 2010 XF base and now my 2011 XF Prem. It did seem to be a bit worse on the 2010. It is true that it is a bigger problem at some stations--especially the ones with the traditional longer spouts. I never have this issue at stations that have the smaller spouts. When I am at a station with a longer spout I just pull it part of the way out and this seems to remedy the situation.

While I'm sure the halfway out solution works most of the time for some people, I have never been able to get it to fill smoothly no matter where I bring it for gas.

I'm normally pretty laid back about these sort of things, but in my opinion I paid enough for my car that I think being able to fuel it without the process being an art form is no too much to ask.

I'm going to press my dealership on this. They've asked that I return it with an empty tank so they can try to duplicate the issue themselves.

I agree. Occasionally one gets a recalcitrant pump. If they all give trouble something is wrong with the car.

Often it is a hose or fitting in the filler neck or its ventilation circuit not quite right. The pump handle sensor reacts to pressure rise. Anything that causes the pressure to rise can trigger his safety shut off, only fuel rising in the filler neck is supposed to.

My S-Type does this after I wash her. That's the only connection I've been able to make for when it does this.
