Default Gear selector knob not rising

I have a XF 2014 3.0l V6 supercharged. AJ126 engine. It has 77,000 miles on the clock.

I have a developing problem. Yesterday when I got in the car to go home from work the engine started as normal, but the gear selector knob did not rise. I switched off and then switched on again and this time the selector knob rose and I drove home normally.

This morning getting in the car to go to work the engine started normally but this time the gear selector knob only rose about a quarter way and on the dashboard, I got parking brake fault and gearbox fault warnings. I switched off and on again and the everything was normal.

Is this an early indication of a developing fault?

Thanks

I suggest spraying WD-40 Silicone Lubricant spray (not the regular WD-40), with the straw shooting the lubricant into the circumference of the rotary dial. Most likely, this will fix your problem.
