going to dyno advise tips pls
I would not take my car to a dyno. I think it may open a chance of something going wrong. Besides todays cars are getting so much horsepower, that it really does not seem to be a big deal of how much HP anyone has anymore. The waters are so muddy now. If it were me I would say save your money and just enjoy the car. You own the car and do what you want. So good luck.
I dynoed my 2010 XFR two or three times a few years ago, and from memory my tips are:
1. Make sure the engine oil is full.
2. Same with the coolant.
3. Maybe let a little air out of the rear tyres, down to say 28 PSI, just don't run with high PSI otherwise you risk the rear tyres slipping on the rollers.
4. Make sure DSC is turned fully off before the run, IIRC you hold down the DSC button for around 12 seconds until the "DSC off" message appears on the dash.
5. Advise the operator to use Sport + Dynamic modes and the paddle shifters to get to 4th gear then leave it in 4th, and then to gradually increase the revs to the limit, otherwise if he mashes the go pedal he will trigger the kick down switch and bugger up the run.
6. After the run you will have a CEL and a few error messages and error codes, they will clear after five or so engine on / engine off cycles or else use a decent OBD2 reader to clear them.
Edit - whoops, forgot one more, maybe the most important tip of all - don't try a run straight after a long drive or several runs straight after each other, allow the engine to cool down a little before/between runs, otherwise you risk heat soak and the ECU invoking a "safe mode" tune - retarded timing, very low AFRs (ie rich) and big loss of top end power.
