I wonder someone can recognise the following pipe

The pipe is about 36 inches in total length
It is cut/sheered maybe caused by the fan fan belt?
One end goes into the grey thing the other unknown - I found the other piece below the fanbelt pulley. I can't find where it is supposed to go.

I can make out some numbers on it 6880 - 12A 9A - B???? EPDM >14.08.??

The coolant reservoir overflow tank empties fully quickly so I don't think water gets back to it.

The only place I can see water is on the oil sump? at the bottom running from right (as you're facing the bonnet) to left along the sump gasketed edge.

Thanks much and unfortunately you have a Diesel which we never got in the states.
So this forum will not be much help.
