After looking at how well Jaguar has designed the oil air separation system on the AJ133SC, I decided to leave it alone.

after all the time cleaning buildup from intake valves i figured it's best to try and catch some of the oil and gunk before it heads back into the intake

not room under hood, but took my plumbing skills and made a horizontal catch "can"

5/8'' outside diameter is the rough size of the pcv hose that mounts from high pressure side to the top of throttle body. made can out of same size copper pipe at inlet and outlet

filled this 2.5'' copper tube with copper sink scrubbers - packed them very tightly

found but only 1 good spot in entire engine bay..

this is the initial test with 5/8'' i.d. heater hose. when the car warms up, the vacuum effect will eventually collapse the hose quite a bit. in the end, i swapped it out to 5/8'' inside diameter reinforced vacuum rated hose. bought a min 10' length from a laboratory supply company. i've drained it 3 or 4 times in about 4k miles in 2018. In total it's strained several ounces of oil - maybe 6oz total over these 4,000 miles. the vacuum hose is clear and no puddling on outlet side.

Bought a catch can for a different car and did not get around to fitting it, it is a 42 draft design, is 200mm deep and 100mm wide. Is it likely to fit in the engine bay of a supercharged 4.2 or likely to stay in its wrapping? It has a dipstick so may be better installed upright?
