how many pistons on 2010 xfr brakes?
Hello everyone I can't seem to find out if I have 4 or 6 piston brakes on my xfr 2010 I'm searching the internet and I can't find any answers it's really annoying so if anyone knows please let me know that little piece of information thank you
i believe 2 piston front and single piston rear. they are huge calipers and rotors, but fairly conventional piston design. remember the rear pistons need to be turned in.
Yes, definitely 2 piston front and single piston rear, both sliding caliper design.
You have to remember that more pistons does not mean a better brake, you want to look at the total surface area being applied, and our two pot fronts and one pots rears are well designed and do a very good job.
If the rear pads were bigger they wouldn't need to be changed twice as often as the front brakes.
Who has reported that? I don't see it as a common issue so may be dragging brake(s) on your car.

Multiple reasons why the rear brake pads need replacing twice as often as the fronts:
1. The anti-dive system which applies the rear brakes earlier and harder than the front brakes.
2. The EPB on the rear brakes and the way it operates.
3. The rear brake pads are a lot thinner than the front brake pads.
Being "bigger" would not help with 1. or 2. but being thicker would help a lot with 3.
