Arrow I added a new Rotary Shifter to my XFR

A member here spotted a new Rotarty Shifter for our cars in the 2012 accessories catalog and I felt it to be a must have. It was a super fast swap and adds a great feel and look. My local dealer robbed me blind for it $159 but I hear Mina Gallery has the same one to offer us and you can get an optional Mina logo or R logo for a topper. I also think it may be a tad cheaper from Mina and it is indeed the same part # and all, just with that Mina special touch to it. Here is a few pix I took so you can see how simple it was and how nice it looks.

Cool. Thanks for the pictures and review on it. It looks great. I don't think I do $159 but I'll put it on the wish list.

Can you post a pic of the shifter in the flushed position?

I had asked my dealer about this possibility when I puchased my '11. Good info. Thanks. I wonder if Nalley can provide this at a reasonable price.

What tool did you use to pop the cover on the old shift knob? I wonder how much of the 2012 touch buttons you can upgrade in the pre-12's?

Looks like there are two sets of parts involved. Found shifter knob and cover piece at online Jag dealer parts supply. Maybe one of our sponsors can meet or beat?

Looks like about $110 plus shipping, tax if any.

So the leather finisher won't fit the old selector?

Too bad these are not colour matched to the interior.....

You would have to call Mina and ask Chris if they have the shifter ready yet. They do not always have it up on the site quickly so give a quick call.

Hey BigCat09,

I just gave Chris from Mina a call alittle while ago, Great Guy, BTW. He's always willing to answer your questions. Anyway, He said the shifter knob isn't ready yet, but should be ready in a week or two. You will be able to purchase several different options for the top instead of leather as mention before. One option will be the Growler which I think would match the steering wheel emblem very well. Price will be (TBA) but will be less then what the dealer wants for just the leather cover one. The material will also be of better grade both in texture and feel then our present OEM one. Hopeful he will remember to drop me a email and I'll put the sale info out or you can just drop him a call.

What tool did you use to pry off the OEM cap on the rotary shift?

I'd be worried that the design put on the top could get out of alignment. I know you can turn the car off without putting park. The car will put it in park on it's own but the knob would be turned still. If you did that once the picture would be off centered until you found a way to center the top.

^ Dont worry about that. No matter what the topper is is smaller than the shifter knob and can not interfere with the selector in anyway. Think of it as a slightly smaller rounddisc that is a sticker you stick on. The stock one and my leather one are the same. So its the same as the OEM design in every way.

Jaguny: What tool did you use to pry off the OEM cap on the rotary shift? I used a razor blade to get under and lift up the origanl topper which is just chrome painted plastic sticker. It was tight but I was careful so I can reuse it again.

This was an easy install ,I only used a washer cause I felt it needed 1 to be snug.

I am pretty sure the selector rotates even when the car selects P for you. The turning of the knob itself is just decorative. It could as easily rise without turning if Jaguar had designed it that way. There is a motor and drive cable that spins it up and down as the selector itself operates.
