I need to connect a live feed and a earth on my xf from my battery , is there a
Live under the bonnet that would be direct from battery to save me running a wire to the boot.

If you are looking for power (and ground) at the windshield/dash area than use the connections at the rearview mirror. Very, very simple !

And the yellow to the live feed off the side light .this way they stay on but dim when the side lights or main lights are on .

Jagman, the negative is easy. You find a piece of steel on your car, it is tied to the negative of the battery. Drill a simple screw through the metal (know what is on the other side) and then use a ring lug to secure the ring lug to the metal. You may also be able to find a screw in the area that you can back out and do the same thing. That way you are not drilling a new hole.

As for the positive, since I don't have a wiring diagram of the XF, I can not be of much help there. One of the tricks I have done in the past is I have simply gone to the fuse box and found an open fuse opening and then you can get power that way. Then it will even be fused and look stock. The big trick is getting your hands on new connectors to go in the back side of the fuse box. NOrmally this isn't too hard as you can either find a newer car that has been totaled and grab the pieces from that or you might get lucky and be able to find the clips at a local electronics dealer.

Thanks , it appears lots I of op say you can not wire ring day times lights to an xf with fitting extra relays etc ,, but I am going to try this method , live to live , neg to neg and the switch wire to live sidelight feed if it works the d r l s dim when your sidelights or main lights come on which keeps them legal in uk ,, so will see how it goes .

Well done Bud, it's great when a job comes together. There're a nice addition to the front end. Did you use the spare live feed in the engine compartment fusebox? Cheers, JohnnieT.

Yes it's great when all goes we'll , and I used a spare connection in fuse box , I had to use one with a permament feed as they run day and night , dimming when your side or main lights are turned on . I m o I think they look smart even when car is parked .
