This and other related posts got me to thinking about this part on my 2010 XFR. I wondered why I couldn't spot this part in the engine bay, and then worked out that the S/C version of the 5.0 has a different outlet pipe, which is metal and not plastic and which sits above the air intake not under it.Originally Posted by MrBW
I recommend anyone with a Jaguar XF 5.0 to replace the outlet pipe (AJ89664) at least every 50k. This pipe is located under the air intake unfortunately and you have to unscrew the 10 bolts holding it on then lift it up slightly. It is made of plastic and mine came apart right at the seem. I have searched online and others have seen the exact failure. Class action lawsuit needs to happen here.
Per this page from the 2010/2011 XFR workshop manual:
So nothing to worry about for 5.0 S/C owners!

Any gaskets or seals that need replacing after lifting the intake to get to the crossover pipe. Mine decided to fail 2 months after the warranty period ended and of course the CPO warranty doesn't cover anything made of plastic. Are there any specialty tools required to remove anything involved in replacing the pipe.Originally Posted by MrBW

Oh dear, not another lawyer meal ticket. Tell me how a check for $1.50 will help cover the engine replacement. Of course maybe driving 10 miles further when any kind of warning comes up isn't the best way to show you took steps to mitigate further damage...maybe the voice system could do a HAL and say "no really, I'm not kidding, pull over and look..."
