Knocking from the boot area
I have a 2008 X type 2.2 diesel witch I will say is brilliant.I have started to hear a knocking sound from the rear and have tried to drive with the boot empty of spare wheel jack and everything else from the boot but the noise is still there when I go over a bump.I have even removed the rear seat but the noise is still there.Any other suggestions please.I have had a mechanic check the underside and he could not find anything

Check the vibration dampeners on the rear brake calibers. If they loosen, they'll 'thunk' over bumps. If one is loose, retighten or remove it. A picture is in this post: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...0/#post1066222
They're easy to overlook. If you're under the car, look up inside the wheel at the inboard, top side of both calipers. If you remove the wheel, reach or peer over the caliber at the top, inboard side where the damper is attached.
