Default Jaguar XF 2013 (3.0v6 SC luxury) Glove Box Not Opening

Hi all, just recently bought an xf but the glove box won't open. The car is not in valet mode and I've read about coming at the button with your finger directly infront and not from the side - still not working. Wanted to check the fuse to see if it was blown but no mention of which fuse controls the glove compartment in the user manual - is it connected to a fuse for something else?. Have read through all other forum entries for glove box problems with no luck of a resolution. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

It seems to be a common problem. My 09 model has its moments and sometimes refuses to open. It might help to have the engine off, but ignition on, just so the car doesn't think you're driving. A safety feature of sorts. Who knows?

Hold your finger vertical and then try.

Mine only works if my finger is horizontal to the touch button.

Maybe your finger is faulty? And is that a left hand finger or right hand? Maybe European fingers and U. S. fingers differ? With today's complex and complicated cars, nothing would surprise me!

Do you have the "TouchSense" printed circles that you have to touch, or do you have an actual physical button to open the glovebox?

Everyone is replying as though you have the TouchSense, which was (is) horrendously unreliable, but I thought Jaguar replaced it with a physical button in 2011, and yours is a 2013.

If it's a physical button and it's not opening, I'd be checking fuses. Is anything else (e.g. interior lights) not working?

Either way, check Fuse 35 in your passenger footwell fuse box.

Pull the trim panel off to reveal the switch, bridging the 2 wires will open the glovebox.

mine is a physical button. Will have to have a look at the fuse thanks. All interior lights are working. All other electronics are working and can't find any other fault aside from the glove not opening.

have removed the trim to reveal the cable behind, no damage and was connected.

will update once I look at the fuse stated above

Is the car in valet mode? Check and see if you can open the trunk with the button in the car.

OK so all the advice you've read about how to push it only relates to the "touch" button which existed on the earlier models.

Gotta be a fuse or similar.
