My 2010 SC perfect too
But usually parked in garage or parking lots and not in a lot of direct sun

If you're worried I'd use a sunshade when in direct sun as there clearly is a potential issue and baking sun is likely to make it worse

My 2010 XF is a victim of dash failure too. Happened after warranty of course.

Those are the normal stretch marks in the leather from the cow. The really high end car manufacturers would not use leather that has imperfections like stretch marks or mosquito bits, but I guess Jag figured they added character.

Oh, by the way, I think the safety complaint from the OP is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen on a car forum.

Jag warranties the car (for 5 years in my year), and they do an amazing job to stand behind their cars during the warranty period, and that's all you can ask from them. Go buy a Kia if you want to find out what it's like when a car company tries to get out of every warranty item.

The fact that the OP put some hideous shiny oil on what looks like a jacked-up dash cover is not Jag's problem. Yes it sucks that the dash has this weak point, but it's foolish to try to turn it into a safety issue. All he is doing in bringing down our resale values.

What's next for him, playing the race card??

Lightbulb Adhesive?

Has anyone repaired the issue on their own, if so what adhesive did you use?

I pulled my dash, removed the leather, and dropped it off at a local shop. I was charged $120 for them to re-apply with glue and staple around the edges. It looks fantastic. The dash can be pulled in about 1 hour. It's easy to remove and you don't need special tools. I'd recommend letting a shop remove the leather from the dash vs. pulling it on your own.

That's an interesting point - if they have to pull the dash out to replace the airbag eventually on Takata's dime it might be possible to get a few extra staples put in before it goes back into the car...so far mine isn't in need....

Default 2009 Dashboard bubbling

My beautiful XF is now having the same problem. Always garaged, always with sunscreen outside, yet I have a growing bubble above the instrument cluster and smaller one starting above the glovebox. Dealer told me "out of warranty - we can fix for $3000". With a knowing smirk, I might add!

If anyone comes up with a solution inn the greater Boston area, please post. I love this car but can't stand it having a dash that looks like it's from the 60's!

I'm having the same issue with my 2013 XF !!! I heard (second hand) that the glue used on the dash was substandard or the wrong type and failed as discussed. I can look for a shop to replace the leather and reattach, but I would also like to find a complete replacement dash that can installed. Does anyone know of an aftermarket supplier of a 2013 XF dash?
Thanks ..

I'm reminded to be careful what you wish for as I read this resurrected thread. My car apparently had the warranty dash repair some time in it's life; the leather is stapled around the centre speaker and elsewhere. I pulled the whole dash out to replace a leaking a/c evaporator a while ago and found all the things that had not been put back together properly during the warranty repair. I wonder if the previous owner had ever noticed that the dash vents never blew any air after it came back with a nice smooth dash.

Must say though, I wonder how many fatalities have been caused by this incredibly dangerous wrinkly dash situation?
