Lifting a XF with a QuickJack QUESTIONS
Hi All;
I have a QuickJack 7000 SLX with extensions, I have used it on many cars and trucks but it is just a bit too short for my XF cars. With the extension, Max length is 66" but the XF has a min 63" to Max 69". This only leaves 1.5" per side for lift which just does not work. I have used the cross car method placing across the front and the other across the back completing a sideward lift but I was not at all comfortable with this system and now with some other projects on the go, I do not have the room not to mention the loss of clearance under the vehicle. I know the new 6000 ELX is out but I really do not want to spend another $2,000 on a floor lift, if it comes to this, I will just add a 4 post with rolling bridge jacks.
I have been using the slit puck pads in the lift slots but I was thinking as I look at optional lift points and to the car design. Has anyone just used the large rubber blocks just outside the lift area slot but still making full contact to the metal lift rails?

this wont be much help - but I own the 5000SLX and just found out its waaay too short for the XF x250. I was bummed, and even more bummed to hear the 7000 is STILL really close! I don't have any advice to offer but am watching this thread.
Hi DeviLSh
With the extensions you can add 6" over all, as mentioned before this is still not enough for a point to point lift. I ended up placing the front puck on the lower of the two supplied rectangular rubber blocks you get with the QuickJack and then I placed a low profile square rubber block at the back, as far as it could go while still centered solid on the rectangular supplied block. It was just before the jack point but still centered on the seam (After the ridge on the plastic cover under the car)
I really should have taken pictures and I will when I lift it again in a couple of weeks. (Unfortunately I found that the wrong parts were sent out in the right boxes, slightly frustrating.) I also found this actually worked great, the car sat solid and no damage to the seam.
I also made wooden pads so I could use a trolley jack and jacked the car up while placing under the wheels so the QuickJack with the extension could fit, otherwise it was too high to slide under.

OK, as promised, I have uploaded how I have to use the QuickJack 7000 SLX.
1. I made the wheel blocks to place under the tires/tyres and used a floor jack so I can get the height for the QuickJack. (My garage has a bit of a slope so I have the chokes for safety)
2. I roughly aligned the QuickJacks beside the car and placed the extension pieces on.
3. Using the smaller of the two rubber block sizes that came with my QuickJack, I placed them in the extension locations, placed the round pucks at the front to fit the jack location and I purchased square blocks with slits for the rear. (as the rear is not sitting into the slot on the car but before, I made sure it was wide enough to support on the inside rail without damaging the skirting. I also want to ensure proper support for the front weight.
Always verify that the lift is locked into the safety position when you drop it into the locking position. I have has a few times one side would lock and the other side would release when lowering.
Also, sorry about the messy car but today it was snowing and slushy so once the work is done, she is going for a wash. She is one of the daily commuters but it doesn't mean she is not special.
