lol So, i am wrong, as long as a lighter car hits an stationary object or hits something else with similar weight?
What you saying is i am right 95 percent of the time.

SUVs are as dangerous as the people on the road texting in their "safer" cars. An idiot behind a wheel, is an idiot behind a wheel.

Owned a Ford Excursion for 7 years. Never rolled it over and i won't go into details how was driven.

Only the latest versions of some SUV are supposedly safer both individually and when hitting other cars.

Lol is an inappropriate remark for this serious safety issue caused by negligent government, ignorant consumers and cynical auto manufacturers.

The current "statistics" are meaningless as they are not related to miles driven nor adjusted for urban versus highway conditions. Deaths per million vehicle years are pretty much irrelevant.

Fact is hit a stationary object in your Excursion at highway speed and you'll not be walking away. If in a car, of any size, you will just open the door and walk away.

But you believe what you want to believe.

I sense a thread hijacking is underway.

Ok - so the one with 40K miles is out, as it had some unexpected surprises... However, i have found another with 60K miles that seems to be in excellent condition....

If the shifter module has been replaced.... on average, can i expect to get good reliability, and typically only expect to change oil and wear parts over the next 2 years and 30K miles? It is a car from a dealer, so it should be well checked over, but its not a CPO.

I don't keep cars long, so that's why i'm honestly only intersted in making sure it'll last me 2 years without needing anything more than basic maintenance... tires, oil, brakes, filters, etc... i'd like to avoid any electrical issues or major gremlins...

It sounds like many have felt "yes", but i wanted to sum up the point of my thread....

If you get the car with 60k miles you should be getting a serious discount over similar low mileage cars. Demand for high mileage cars is quite weak in comparison and they tend to sit on dealer lots.

I think its pretty well discounted.... I don't usually mind higher mileage cars, as I've had good luck with them - but as i noted, i want to be sure this won't be a vehicle that will nickel and dime me to dealth (e.g. BMW X5's)

It appears to be a good 8K+ less than other Supercharged models with 40K miles... the dealer seems to be down to his last dollar on it... Over the last almost week we've been in touch a lot of times, as i'm willing to wait him out - but he really doesn't want to budge - and being that he's had the car for nearly 4 months, i'd imagine he's at his bottom dollar. I know they don't like to have them sit for a long time.

Don't take my comments as discouraging you from buying a high mileage car. My first car was a two year old Audi A4 with 87k. It serves me well and a happily hung on to it for nearly a decade and a half. My point was simply that jaguar dealers, in particular, have a very difficult time unloading high mileage cars and you should be able to get a very good deal.

Thank you...

I think we've made a deal on the '09 SC XF with 60K miles.... price seems right to me... As long as its trouble free for the next 2 years, i'll be a happy camper....
