XF S 3.0 v6 diesel
fuel level went to zero
only one access into fuel tank , electrical connection inside tank was remade to repair .worked for 7 days .Did this 3 times then it failed to repair fault .
was going to change pump and sender unit BUT
i swiped a strong magnet against the fuel level sealed resistance box and this has cured the fault for the last 6 weeks .

lots of videos on you tube talk about the electrical connection but none suggest what I did above.
hope this helps

Just to update myself REPAIRED
All i did before buying anther level sensor was to wipe up and down along the path the magnet takes with a much stronger magnet (rare earth magnet) It has now been working for the best part of 11 months

When the level arm moves ,the shorter arm moves a magnet along the path of the "fingers" ,I think these fingers get stuck together somehow ,which are released when a stronger magnet is used .

Having said all the above yesterday with the temperature down at minus 2 my level indication showed ZERO for about 10 mins before it came back .OK today though
