Default Fuel level indicator

Because I have a carbureted 350 in my XJ-12, I swapped to XJ-6 fuel tanks. I then routed the fuel lines into the trunk where the spare tire is, tied them together using a "T" intersection (thus bypassing a fuel cell switch), and then tied them into the single fuel rail that goes to the fuel pump. Now, neither of my fuel level floats work to tell me how much fuel I have.

Is there a way to directly route the fuel level gauge to the fuel float in one of the tanks?

Ah...I figured out that the tank selector switch is still working, but my tank float only works part of the time, so I've ordered new tank floats.

The floats are a common failure.
