Mina Air intake tube

Read this thread and look for my posts. Have been using this setup for over 2 years. Works great, no codes, and intake temps are no different than with the stock boxes in place (tested using a Launch OBDII reader, streaming live data).

Here is a more in-depth discussion on the SC sounds.
Again, look for my posts and vids if you want real-world sound samples.

I have a Mina and really like it. More hp..not sure...but it pulls harder through the entire rpm range I feel .I did a couple mods to it...I replaced the silicone hose that goes from the maf to the pipe with a 3 inch intake hose I got from AutoZone...it gets rid of the rubber adapter I did not like and makes a tighter seal...I cut my breather hose in half and cut the Mina hose and joined the 2 quite nicely with heat shrink...this allowed me to use the oem push fitting at the valve cover...another nice tight fit...I also took off the wot flap and dropped in a kn filter..I am really pleased with the sound and extra oomph...and I have my original oem setup I can change back to in about 5 minutes for the CA smog

i have mina. a reasonable aesthetic improvement over stock plastic, but i was let down with my hopes that the S/C would now scream..
the s/c itself is tuned for much quieter operation by Jaguar machining specification to Eaton. so the source of the whine is not the same as the other make s/c engines seen and heard screaming at WOT.
i'll second the comment about airbox mods. i played around and removed lower airbox (and filter) for just a short time to see what's up.
I'd say that factory pleated filter, which i still have, is responsible for most of the sound muting. maybe a K&N would help there - i do not know.
one HUGE muting device of the s/c is a small cover under the rear trim pieces of the engine and wiper trim. i forgot to reinstall it when i did s/c work and it was a lot louder in only unflattering ways. I thought the symposer was at fault. tried to pinch off the "pipe" into the cabin and such to no success. finally realized what the cover was and where it was for - reinstalled and so much quieter. I'm not referring to the engine cover itself, but rather a smaller part.

I had the TCP intake (similar to the Mina one) and K&N air filters on my old XFR and there was just the tiniest increase in SC whine.
It seems there are two ways to significantly increase the SC whine on the 5.0 SC:
1. Replace the stock airboxes and filters with cone filters, although without some shielding of the filters you risk increased intake air temps and resultant loss of power
2. Get a VAP tune with larger lower/crank pulley, the tune closes off the SC bypass valve sooner/further and besides the big increase in SC whine you get a massive boost in torque, power and performance!
