Music from Android phone?
Hi guys, I want to listen to music from my Samsung A70 through the car.....I have seen you can do this via an ipod cable in arm rest...I don't have one of them....all I have is an aux cable port and 12 volt port....how can I do it?? 2009 XF 3.0 Deisel....thank you.
So you don't have the usb or ipod connector. Just the 12v (power) and 3.5mm round aux socket?
If so, you can get a Bluetooth dongle to plug into the aux. should be around $10-20. Then pair the phone with the Bluetooth dongle and you can stream music through that. Note you will also need to pair the phone with the in car Bluetooth for phone connectivity to the car if you want to use hands free calling in the car.

BritCars, thanks for reply... I have already paired the phone to car via bluetooth....it is just the music I cannot sort... will look on Amazon or Ebay for what you suggest..thanks again Phil
Direct 3.5 mm aux is the best option for you, unfortunately bluetooth connection to the unit is only for phone calls.
A Jack 3.5mm adapter to bluetooth, has delay and are very slow, they don't work well.
Upgrading to an Android unit is a hot topic on this forum, unfortunately it's not working 100%, i have been working on an alternative route I'll post soon.

Yes - pre facelift the in car Bluetooth does calls but not streaming audio. So you have to supplement that
I've seen the 3.5mm Bluetooth adaptors work fine. I also Bluetooth to speakers a lot and that hasn't been an issue
The adaptor is pretty cheap so maybe try it and see if it's good enough for you. I don't know if sound quality is an issue but your ears will be the best judge of that
Else as Carlos says you can go old school with a hard wire solution..

Many thanks
Yes supposedly, there are YouTube videos about that device. The thing is that all these types of devices creates a fake mp3 file in it's internal memory, this takes awhile there's a lag of a few seconds, and you loose a bit of sound quality, and you might get disconnections.
Check YouTube review's it's well explained.

I purchased a Bluetooth adapter that works with the IPod interface. Steering wheel controls work fine and the sound quality is great. It connects automatically and just works. The only thing it doesn't do is display the name of the track playing, which is a bottom of the list need for me as I know what songs I've put in my playlist. I'm using Spotify, the car is pre-facelift, my phone is a Samsung S20 Ultra. I connect to the Jaguar BT and Audio BT simultaneously. One of the best additions I've made to the car.
@Lockwood27 You will not be able to use the car's controls (steering wheel/console) to do song previous/skip with the 3.5mm adapters - that's why it has the controls on the adapter itself.
You'll be needing to use which uses the ipod port.

Yes - as you say the car's controls won't work when using the 3.5mm audio adaptor type of Bluetooth device. That's sound only
But that's all the OP has on his 2009 model unfortunately.
The other ones linked that use the iPod dock connector will use the cars controls to skip tracks etc. and at least on mine with an iPhone is also displays the song name on the car touchscreen. But I think that's only with iPhone and not android?
