Default My own facelift for my 2010 XF!

Now that I've decided to keep my 2010 XF until the XE comes out, I decided to do a few things to freshen it up.
I've always liked the new tail light look with the extra boot light finishing the tail lights.
I scored a set of 2013 boot lights and after trying to use the whole light, too much trouble, I simply cut off the lower part, sealed the lens and attached to the boot lid. Now it's much better and they act like reflectors at night. My own facelift for my 2010 XF!-image.jpg

Finished.
Then I turned m attention to the interior. The previous owner had really abused the door panels in the front and the gray leather looked terrible, even after I had them re finished. It never looked right. So I decided after I had such good luck with the duplicolor vinyl paint in my XK8, I'd try it on my XF.
I prepped the panels and center console and lower dash, a ton of masking tape and three cans of flat black. It took all day but I swear the car looks totally different!! And the two tone interior looks so sporty. Even the seats look better.

It was a huge leap of faith but patience won out. Looks brand new. The black dash and door caps are a bit lighter but it all blends perfectly.

Looks factory clean on the mod, great work, I was trying to do the same, and noticed the 12+ plinth is a little different so wouldn't just match up to my 09'.

Looks like I'm going to break out the dremel.

Thanks for the idea!

Could I go back, I'd have fitted the whole light. It does fit perfectly and with a little cutting the blade to fit over the double light, it would have been totally matching. Wiring is a different story. But I jump in before I test. Ugh.

For the wiring, there are no problems.
The new lights have three connection pins: one is the ground, one of the fog lights and one of the lights.
The problem is that the design and the color of the new lights is different from the old.
That's why I preferred to adopt your solution to cut the bottom.

Do people see the XE as a step up from the XF? To me, it's like saying I am going to keep my 5 Series BMW until the new 3 Series comes out. No matter how nice the XE is, it's going to be a step down from the XF in category.
