Default Nasty noises from the motor on start up, any thoughts?

noreply-6db969039266b6370d876853c7835758@google.com

I've had an annoying "ticking" sound on startup for a while now, rpm related that sounded to me like a tappet or something in the valvetrain, but it has suddenly gotten much worse and is now accompanied by a scary rattling noise....Maybe the supercharger or waterpump? The above link is to a cell phone video on google photos, haven't figured out how to post it to YouTube, computers are not my thing.

Car has 30K miles and is still under full warranty, I don't beat on it so I'm at a loss as to what this might be.Any thoughts are welcome,!

Many thanks,
Paul

It is hard to say but if it is under warranty let Jaguar take a look at it. My experience with the 5.0 is limited but I do hear a noise but unable to pinpoint it from the video. Please post what you find.

Thanks for the reply....Mine is a V6 3.0 supercharged and I too am hard pressed to locate the source of the noise precisely, but it is definitely not what you want to hear from a Jaguar motor...I sent the video to the Jaguar service manager here in Denver , should hear from them tomorrow and I will be taking it in for sure. I've only had the car since January and with all the snow I don't think I've put 500 miles on it yet!

Odds on it is the torsion isolator / coupler in the rear of the snout of the supercharger.
Dozens if not hundreds of threads and posts on this forum about it, I'm not going to repeat the thousands of words written on this subject, search is your friend.

I am sorry! I should have looked at you signature. Whatever it is it does not sound right.
