Need help/suggestions
I still want to upgrade my halogens to HID, but have been going nuts trying to find information about which kit to get and if i need to disable DRL to avoid flicker. I have a 2011 XF base model and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
To be legal you need the suspension attitude sensors. Jaguar will have the parts! In he US it will be legal for our dealer to switch off the DRLs, it'll be in the software. If you have auto headlights DRL are unnecessary.
Last car I checked for this was my 2001 Audi S4 which was wired for the lights etc and still cost nearly CDN$4K to do legally.
Without the suspension attitude sensors HID doesn't work because you have to aim them so low. They only really work on low beam anyway at our permitted speeds.

I have the auto feature on my headlights. I guess I can ask the dealer to disable? But, I don't know if that is necessary. Maybe if I go with the HID kit, I should just not use the auto feature and turn my headlights on and off like I used to before all the DRL and auto features.
Auto feature will work fine with any headlight. North American spec cars us th regular lighting circuits if DRL. You can leave that all in place. Your challenge will be to have th HID self level correctly.
