New owner..Does Nav DVD have to be inserted for nav to work?

Does the nav DVD always have to be in the slot load for the navigation system to work?

Never had a nav before so all this is new to me. Thanks.

Yes. My nav came with 2 dvds. I guess there is too much information for just one. Why they don't make a 2-disc dvd nave unit, I don't know.
