Default Old Member- New To me Jag- 2010 Jaguar XF smart key issue/question

Hey all, I've had my 2010 XF premium for 2 weeks now. My clutch went out on my X type sport and then my air suspension failed on my 2006 XJ8 and was totaled in a parking lot the next day, actually to my benefit as the culprits insurer (AAA) valued my XJ8 really high. Initially I bought a G37 which I had several years ago and loved but an Infiniti just isn't a Jag, I still have the G37 but I'm going to sell it shortly here. I certainly miss my old Jags and their classic jag styling, yet I love the XF and always lusted after one. Anyways I plan on being much more active on the forums, and not just when I have issues, I've always appreciated the advice I've got in the past

Quick question, I've searched past threads for my current issue to no avail, I just replaced the keypad with new one as it was weathered and the fob stopped working. I was very careful, and it won't work unless I dock it, I even replaced the battery to troubleshoot and still nothing, any idea's?? Thanks All

Nick

My guess would be that your key's died in more than a battery way. If it were me, I'd get a new key (or 2) and then see if I could poke around on the electronics of the old to get it working. A little solder goes a long way.

For getting new keys, check this thread.

Make sure one of battery pins hasn't become flattened against the PCB when you reassembled the keyfob - from memory it's easy for this to happen.

Thanks for the responses Gents. It's was one of the battery pins, I could get it to function while apart and holding the battery in to get correct contact. While doing so the whole pcb board just happened to fall into a glass of chardonnay that I had poured to ease my frustration. I immediately used a blow dryer to dry it and let it sit. I have yet to test it again after this unfortunate idiotic incident. Regardless I am going to buy a new key and get it programmed which runs on average 250$ from the dealer I have read!!?? So in the meantime I am docking it and manually locking it

Near miss there - you could have spilled the Chardonnay.

Good to hear you found the cause of the remote issue.
