Opinions on 2011 XF purchase
@Executive: Who said anything about a 2012?
@Chefmjb: the dealer is starting to cave-in. If you are satisfied with the offer, and don't mind paying retail, go for it. I think that's what the average buyer would do. But if you want to drive them down further, then go in waving these two options:
Option 1
Option 2
If they don't budge, you can turn away and see if they drop. If they still don't, you can decide to take their lowest offer. Or give them the silent treatment. Wait a few weeks and let them get hungrier. Remember, it's a game. They'll probably try to sell you a bunch of extras at closing, too. Finish protection, dent protection, anti-theft stickers, dealer prep, maybe even a destination charge (on a used car, right). Check with your local attorney general to find out what the legitimate charges are. And for maximum protection against your pocket book, go in with your own financing pre-approved. Maybe the dealer's financing will be better, but not likely on a used vehicle.
My dealer tried to sell me "Phantom Footprints" see https://www.iasdirect.com/Products/Anti-Theft.aspx Funny thing was, the car already had them from the original sale. And the dealer that was selling the crooked leaper was trying to sell a warranty, when it already had the 100kmi from the original sale (it was on the carfax and I confirmed it with Jaguar N.A.)
When I was shopping, there were a few that I let slip away. For a brief time I felt a little regret, but a better deal came along and I knew it when I saw it.

I was making a suggestion - he didn't specify generation preference. If i was going to spend $44,000 on a XF and had option of buying a 12 over 11 for the same price, i would take the MY12. Nicer front facia, better seats etc...and newer is better.
Yeah! There's a ton of 'em! Here's a friggin' 'folio for $45k with 8kmi on the clock!
