I noticed I had a P0171 code pop up the other day and realized I had checked the oil the day before. I haven't driven the car since but I did notice I had not put the dipstick all the way back on (it was out about 1/2"). Would this be enough to throw a P0171 CEL? If not I'll have to start hunting. Hope that was it.

It can be, yes.

If that's all it was then after a few (3 or 4) warm ups it'll self-clear (MIL will go off, code will stay harmlessly stored but not noted as current).
