Hi everyone! My XF 2015 Sportbrake 2.2d sometimes does “crazy things” inside the car and I'm wondering if you know the symptoms and maybe have some suggestions for me. Here is my list of “features”:

• The blue door ambient lights go off and on on both sides/doors (yes its dark), recover after 1-2 seconds and normally stay on for the entire trip.
• The speedometer backlight goes off and on, recovers after 1-2 seconds and normally stays on for the entire trip. (happened only once)
• Infotainment system randomly ...
  • ... shows fan speed or temperature popup, like when you change it manually
  • ... shows message "lock mode activated", like when you press the button on the top left, but actually it isn't locked
  • ... restarts from time to time and remains in use for the rest of the entire trip.

Beside of that I have no other issues, and this stuff is pretty random and rare. I checked the fuse boxes (passanger and trunk). They are all dry, but I removed all connectors (not fuses yet) and used some special contact cleaner for sensitive stuff. Today I also replaced both batteries. Since this stuff is very random I cannot tell if this fixed some points, but the fan speed / temperature popup still just showed up without touching the vent knob. So I have my fingers crossed that at least some other stuff is fixed. My voltage seems fine, it shows above 14V+ during the drive.

SDD shows no faults. It only complains about my "turning signal lights", because I replaced them with some running led xf accessories parts, but this should be fine. I also have a retrofit carplay, but this works actually pretty well and shouldn't harm the door ambient lights or the speedometer backlight.

 

Just a short update. The ambient door light "flickering" (on / off for few secs) still exist, even after battery change. I forgot to mention that my rear camera also was once black, but recovered the next day and never happened again.

 

Go back to stock bulbs and see if the problem changes.
