Default Real XF Engine Performance Mods that work

Does anyone have a concise XF engine performance Mod thread that is easy to follow and recommend.

I keep on reading companies saying they can tune the engine etc but I am suspect of them and the price circa $1K. I do want the factory speed limit off especially when driving through death valley. I need recommendation befoer I dish out hte coin.

E,g,Improvements of fuel economy by 10-15% removal of the speed limiter, raised rpm resulting in increased in power, quicker acceleration smooth acceleration with no flat spots or hesitation

BTW I got my first key scratch from some jackassss.

Thanks from the Big Bollocks !

What engine do you have? Also, where do you live?

I don't think a tune will do as much as on the NA motor as my supercharged so not sure it would be worth it. I asked where you lived because there is a tuner that I used in So Cal that did a custom tune for my XFR and I love it.

I've had 2 XF V8s (not Rs), and I dont necessarily think that they are designed to go at the top speeds. I found them a little twitchy at speed, a little prone to waft and wobble braking at higher speeds. The 5.0 on 20"s was better, but even that skipped a bit accelerating at speed (the acceleration is massive at over 80kph), so if I was planning on taking one of them up toward the limit (legally, of course) I'd be looking for a dead flat surface and zero other traffic.

I'd had a volvo s60R before the Jags, and even though the Jags are an overwhelmingly better car in many ways, I thought that the volvo with its lower stance, AWD, brembo brakes etc felt far more composed at speed.

The point of which being that unless you've already taken the car to the limit and it's not enough, I'd probably see whether I was comfortable doing it before getting the engine mods. You might decide to put the money to something else, eg lowering it or brakes.

Sounds like you don't have a ton of experience adding horsepower. What you want to do is find a reputable tuner in your area and have them do a full tune. Make sure they tune it both on the dyno and on the street and you will get great results (probably 10-15whp increase). If you want more you are better off selling it and getting a supercharged model.

Not likely anyone can tune the normally aspirated engine.

If you drive faster make sure the tires fitted have adequate speed rating.

Base XF will do 155 mph in some markets, the US speed limiter is for the crapola tires we get.

I took my '09 to 200 km/hr indicated (120 mph or so) which was rpm limited and drove on Italian cruise control for about half an hour at that speed with no issues. Clearly the engine had lots left as the car did not slow down on hills or around bends, definitely rpm limited and not power limited and that was the old 4.2 with only 300 hp. I was driving at 1,000 meters elevation also (3,600 ft) so the engine would've been down on power had it been going flat out at full throttle. The rev limiter closes the electronic throttle which qualifies as a "soft limiter" so you can drive "flat out" all day long with your foot planted into the carpet.

I noted no issues with roadholding, the car was rock solid at that limited speed.

We need the speed limiter off. They only issue i have noticed is the wind noise above 100mph on private roads of course . My tires are rated 155mph. Also does anyone have any power bands to share I am amazed that the NA V8, once around 3500 rpm really kicks in and pulls almost feels like the car leaps forward
