Default Rear Differential Oil Filler Plug?

Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice. I have 2011 XFR and would like to change the rear diff oil. Had a look in the workshop manual and under the car. It appears the filler plug is nicely hidden with little access to get a key in there. I'm guessing it's a hex key but not sure the size/best method for removing the plug. Refilling will likely be 1.1 litres via a hand pump..

Thanks in advance...

Found some stubby hex keys. Hopefully will do the trick.

I had to cut down an 8mm allen it's just not enough room in there for anything.

And then used an 8mm gear wrench to turn it.

You don't want to bugger that plug up!

Thanks Bigg Will. Your expertise and photography skill is most appreciated. I'll be tackling this along with the transmission oil change. All the bolts broke loose from the transmission pan without any issue. Life is good. Just waiting for the pan / redline fluid.

The XFR diff case is different than the 09 Supercharged correct? The XFR and later Supercharged models have the E-diff so I imagine it is. I had no issues accessing the fill plug on my 09. No tools were harmed.

Here is the fluid I used:
Amazon.com: Royal Purple 01301 Max Gear 75W-140 High Performance Synthetic Automotive Gear Oil - 1 qt.: Automotive Amazon.com: Royal Purple 01301 Max Gear 75W-140 High Performance Synthetic Automotive Gear Oil - 1 qt.: Automotive

I sucked out all the old fluid with a cheap hand pump and pumped in the new fluid.

Here is a shot of the 09 Supercharged diff case:

Correct. There's a drain plug which is readily accessible and a fill plug that has little access. As Bigg Will captured a cut-off hex key and wrench is likely the best way to go.
