Default Rear Panel Speaker Removal

Hi Guys,

I blew my rear right speaker in my 2011 xfr. The speaker is located behind the sun visor.

Does anyone know how to remove the speaker? I tried prying the grill off to get at the screws but it doesn't want to budge. Also the workshop manual doesn't seem to mention anything about removing these specific speakers.

Thanks in advance...

Not in my copy of the workshop manual either.
Most likely you need to access some nuts or bolts from the underside via the trunk/boot.
Not hard to remove the trunk/boot inner trim, just a few Christmas tree clips, then you should be able to see what is going on. Also helps to lay the back seats down.

Thanks I'll have a look. Looks like everything is encased in metal behind the inner trim...

Wow huge thanks for that. Looks like this is going to take more time than just pulling off a grill and unscrewing the speaker. Was about to fire up the torch.

Its not so hard work, belive me, but for first time you'll need about hour or two for take off parcel shelf.

for next time you spent about 30-40 minutes for take off and install.

Great directions, however, if you have the sunscreen, you also need to remove 3 screws from the trunk. Also, on the 2012 the fold down seats don't have the quick release pull tabs so you have to manually trigger the fold down seats. Other than that it was fairly easy. Putting the side plates over the back seat belt and airbag was a bit more difficult than taking them off.

Any advice on how to get the side rear airbags off? I feel a little reluctant to start pulling on an airbag.
