Rear upper arms play
Hi,
I have a 2010 XF S 3 litre diesel, 89,000 miles, which was having a service at the dealership.followed by an early MOT. They've said that there's excessive play on both the rear upper arms, plus the lower shock absorber bushes, and quoted me £1095. Apparently this was spotted during the service, and they said it would cause a MOT failure. As I have a while before the MOT runs out I told the to cancel the MOT and just finish the service.
I dont know anything about suspension, but from watching videos it says you jack the car up and look for play in the wheel whilst gripping tyre at 12 and 6 oclock positions. I've just done that and they are rock solid.
How do I know that they really do need replacing, and the garage wasnt just being too fussy ? Does £1095 sound a too expensive ?
Cheers,
Dave
